Lug Your Mug

Soup to Warm your Hearts

The cold, the wind, the temperature, what a winter….. Even though there is no wind-chill of -32 today, we are still in the mercy of winter, but I ask you, who doesn’t like to keep warm, no matter what the temperature is outside. To help warm the cockles of our students, the Health and Wellness Committee does something really special.  For the last two years, the Health and Wellness Committee has served a healthy homemade soup the first Tuesday of every month to all our students.  We call it Lug your Mug.  The concept is to help teach students how to cook and prepare healthy, budget friendly soup.  Student committee based cooking groups are set up, thus giving the students ownership with the cooking and the preparation of the soup.  Staff on the committee serves the soup to the delight and smiles of our students.

We call it Lug your Mug, in other words, bring your cup and you get a cup of soup free; it’s as simple as that.  If you’re planning on visiting to the Chateauguay Valley Career Centre for a Student for a Day in Carpentry, Landscaping, Health, Assistance in Nursing or our combined Assistance in Health Care & Home Care programs schedule it for the first Tuesday of the month and try our soup, but don’t forget your mug!
