Thy going out and thy coming in

Celebrating success…

Twenty-three students from the Accounting & Secretarial sector celebrated the completion of their respective programs at a dinner held in their honour on Friday, October 10th.  Their teachers, Centre Director, Assistant Centre Director, and invited guests joined in the celebration and festivities.

Five of the graduates have found permanent positions in the workforce, while another seven are currently working on contract.  Two Accounting students, Lori Bordeau and Nancy Lefebvre, are graduating with double diplomas, having already succeeded in the Secretarial program.

Jennifer Durand, one the Secretarial graduates, is currently completing her second diploma in Accounting.

We are proud of our graduates who balanced the stress of school with children, families, and work along with their studies.  Their newly acquired technical skills, as well as their professionalism and determination, have more than prepared them for the next phase of their journey – members of the work force.

… and welcoming the new blood!

In September we welcomed 18 new students to our Accounting program.  They are off and running eager to learn about debits, credits, payroll, and income tax.  As well, in October a new group of Secretarial students joined us, eager to learn the fine points of being an administrative assistant.

We also have a Winter Secretarial group entering their final semester and excitedly preparing themselves for their February 2015 stages.

To celebrate the arrival of our new groups and give them an opportunity to meet the current senior group, a pizza luncheon is planned for the end of October.  New friendships are already forming among all the students and there is a buzz of excitement in the halls as new students learn some of what to expect from those more experienced.
