Program objectives: The program enables students to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to support people with a diversity of Health Care needs in their homes, in the community or in an institutional setting.
Employment prospects: Our graduates are being employed to various places;
Public Sector – CISSS or CIUSSS (recent fusion of Hospitals, CLSC, Long Term Care Facility and Rehabilitation Centers)
Private Sector – Self-employment, private residence or private agencies.
Course Content: Students learn skills such as; Basic care, First aid, Palliative care, Daily living activities, Occupational therapy, certification in CPR and PDSB, Job search techniques etc.
Other particulars: This program offers the same foundation as the Assistance Health Care Facility program (PAB) but it goes into more details allowing graduates to work in CLSC, Rehabilitation Centers or in private homecare agencies.
Duration of program: 975 hours (7.5 months)
There is the opportunity to complete both the Home Care Assistance program and the Assistance in Health Care Facilities (PAB) program within the same year and acquiring both diplomas.
