Alouette!

NOVA had the opportunity to host the « Together at School » program from the Montreal Alouettes.  The program’s main goal is to encourage kids to stay in school while focusing on a wide array of challenges that students face today, ranging from bullying and academic performance to peer pressure and the importance of staying active. The players look to inspire and motivate the students they meet to make the right choices and to reach their full potential through hard work and dedication.

Kristian Matte was delegated to come and meet us.  He is an offensive linemen, was drafted seventh overall by the Alouettes in the 2010 CFL Draft and signed with the team after attending mini-camp with the NFL’s Houston Texans. He played college football for the Concordia Stingers.

Kristian met with both daytime and evening shifts of NOVA.  His heartfelt story about his humble beginnings resonated well with the students and staff, and the details of his dream to become a CFL football player were engaging and true.

Students and staff were treated with a photo (and selfie!) session with Kristian.  All can confirm he as dedicated to the sport as he is to see students succeed in their passion.
