Venez nombreux, venez tous en classe

203 library at HAECC!
Last spring, English teacher Sabrina Henderson and special education technician Audra Taylor joined forces to start an in-class library for the students of HAECC to enjoy. It started off very small, with only about a dozen books, and has grown into a collection of over one hundred novels for the students to discover! We have had donations from teachers and staff, community members, and even students have brought in novels to spread their love of reading with others. The classroom library has been a huge success in a short amount of time here at HAECC, and students are using it regularly. All secondary four and five students are asked to read a class novel and keep a detailed reading log about it, they are also asked to write an analysis of the novel.  The secondary four students are currently reading, The Outsiders, and the secondary five students, Go Ask Alice. In addition to a class novel, students are encouraged to read a novel of their choosing independently, that they will review for future readers. The English teacher is also hoping to start a future reading partnership with CVR’s literary coach and students to keep literacy on the rise in both communities.
