Of the many modules offered in the Programme de décoration intérieure et d'exposition visuelle, le Interior decorating project based on Modular Built-in Elements may be one of the most interesting!
In this module, students actually make over a kitchen and family room.
The challenge was that the room which they had to work on felt cold and dark. The poor layout of the kitchen and lack of storage space just didn’t meet the needs of the owners.
The goal was to have the kitchen working as the family’s main room, whether it’s used for cooking, dining, doing homework or hanging out. The owners expectancy was a design with a high level of sophistication for when they entertain, storage space, open shelving for their artifact collections, pro-quality range and a huge island for preparation work since they love to cook.
They wanted a contemporary design combined with elegant accents, textiles and artwork.
For several weeks, students researched cabinetry, furnishings and accessories, selected all finishes for the floor, walls, counter-tops, window treatments, fabrics and accessories. They then created 3-D renderings with the 20/20 Design software and Sketch-up, to create a room that anyone would be proud to show off.
Great results as you can see! Remember, these are 3-D renderings! Don’t they look great?
