Humble brag – our NOVA Career Centre in Chateauguay is the Québec’s vocational education Centre of Expertise for Welding.

Welders are in high demand across the province. It’s a hot career choice (pun intended).

You will graduate ready for a successful career in the industry, trained and prepared to pass the practical welding certification examination conducted by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB). Your training will include welding using modern equipment with common arc welding processes including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG). Learn to work with materials such as mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum. You will also build your own projects by selecting, planning, and demonstrating metal fabrication techniques using the most current metal fabricating equipment and a variety of welding processes.

Are there job opportunities upon graduation?

Employment opportunities exist in a vast array of companies. Everywhere you look, things are welded; from construction sites, to the aerospace industry, to transportation and pipelines. The possibilities are endless.

Will my training be recognized in other provinces?

Many of our students are now working in other parts of Canada and the United States. The Canadian Welding Bureau, which is recognized from coast to coast, certifies welders in Canada.

What salary could I expect upon entering the work force?

Salaries vary, depending on a number of variables, but the average starting wage for a welder in Quebec is $26/hour.
