Two students win at Rural Youth Gala

The annual Gala de reconnaissance jeunesse rurale / Rural Youth Gala celebrates the community involvement of young people ages 6-24 in five categories:

  • volunteer or citizen involvement
  • school or social perseverance
  • healthy living habits (food or sports)
  • cultural action
  • environment

Two students at HAECC were not only nominated in their two respective categories but were also awarded the Gala’s top prestigious award “Prix Petits JR” taking 1st and 2nd place out of 54 nominees. The Gala was held at Grove Hall in Huntingdon on Thursday, May 21st with a classy Oscar awards night movie theme.

Congratulations and admiration go to first place winner Lisa Richer, Socio-Vocational Integration Services (SVIS) student, for her school perseverance and attitude despite social and physical challenges, and second place winner Samuel Larocque for his volunteer service to the community, nominated by his Scout leader. Sam is also one of HAECC’s 2014-2015 Outstanding Citizens. They both received a trophy, a certificate and a cash prize.

You two are amazing young people and we are very proud of you!
