Cycling for a cause

In January, a team from the NFSB admin department decided to step up, take on a challenge and do something different. They talked about getting healthier and decided together they would try to train themselves for a bike race and raise money at the same time.

The team registered for a 135 km bike race, part of the Grand Defi Pierre Lavoie, called La Boucle, which was held last weekend. This fundraising event was intended to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and to raise money for the foundation Pierre Lavoie as well as for our schools, this in order to purchase physical education equipment.

The ride was a huge success as our cycling team joined 5000 cyclists last Saturday during a very rainy day in Quebec City … and they did it! They raised almost $5000 for the foundation and our school board.

The team was made of:

Rob Buttars – Director General
Steve Colligan – Maintenance staff for Nova Career Centre
Walter Coriandoli – Director of Material Resources
Anita Duwel – Coordinator of Continuing Education
Bonnie Mitchell – Director of Continuing Education
Daryl Ness – Centre Director of HAECC in Huntingdon
Brian Seltmann – Principal of Harmony Elementary
Pierre Theriault – Teacher – CVR
Bob Thomas – Coordinator of Technology and ICT

Next year they plan on expanding their efforts in the event!
