Computer Donation

Thursday May 4th was a very exciting day at HAECC as members of the Siemens Corporation and the Salvation Army donated 20 laptop computers to students in need. This initiative was started by Math and Science Teacher Kathleen Hackett when she saw that many students did not have access to a computer at home and relied on school computers and their phones to complete homework. This outreach program is unique in that it has the Siemens Corporation donating all their used computers not to the school, but to students who can take their very own laptop home with them.

HAECC staff and students were delighted to welcome Glen Shepherd, Divisional Secretary for the Salvation Army of Quebec, and Valery Nabi, Director – Montreal Community and family Services Armée du Salut – division du Québec, to our school and gave them a tour as well as treated them to flowers, maple syrup and lunch in the Centre’s esteemed café!
A huge thank you has to be made to Miss. Hackett and the FG team for their tremendous work in organizing this very special event. It is safe to say that there were a few tears shed over these amazing gifts, even staff couldn’t help but feel emotional knowing how much this means to these deserving students.

A special thanks to Philips Schaus, President and Co-founder, Corporations For Community Connections, Inc. and his volunteers who worked hard to make all the computers ready to use.
