Green thumbs!

Last week the Huntingdon Adult Education and Community Centre (HAECC) had an exciting day outside the classroom. The horticulture class over the past few months has been growing lettuce and other vegetables in the green house.

Once the lettuce was ready Denise Chavez the horticulture teacher taught the students the proper way to cut the lettuce and how to reuse the soil.  Most of the left over soil and roots will be used for planting bulbs for the upcoming sale in April!

Most of the lettuce cuttings from the activity was used at the “Behind the counter Café”. The cafe is a service which students get in the kitchen and help make healthy meals and soups for the students and staff of the building.
