Learning Outside the Classroom

Does it get any better than this? Health, Assistance & Nursing and Assistance in Health Care Facilities students with their teachers had an amazing time in the Dominican Republic. We joined a wonderful group of students and teachers from Georgian College. Working side by side we had a common goal, to respect and understand the needs of the Dominican people. We wanted to help them in any way we could.
Students had the opportunity to practice their knowledge and skills in village clinics, the hospital, old age homes, diabetic clinic, soup kitchen, a womens’ shelter, rehab clinic and home visits. Clothes, shoes, toothbrushes, medication and school supplies were distributed to as many people as possible. The Dominican people welcomed us into their homes and hearts. We always felt appreciated by the local communities.
Learning outside the classroom is so beneficial.
We are privileged at NFSB to have the support of our teachers, Centre Director and Administration with this initiative.
