Nursing Students from our Career Centre in Ormstown made a difference in the Dominican Republic! A group of eight students and four teachers from the Health Assistance & Nursing Care Program (offered at the Chateauguay Valley Career Education Centre) went to the Dominican Republic from May 1st to May 15th as part of an Éducation Internationale work study program. This unique opportunity allowed the students to practice their learned skills in a place where it will truly make a difference. The staff and students visited several villages to volunteer in remote communities that have no health care services. They will also observed care in hospitals and nursing homes that have limited resources, they conducted home visits in shanty towns. Funding for this stage has come from grants, donations and hard work. Follow their journey as it was shown on their blog at: http://healthcareocoa2013cvcec.blogspot.ca/
